...magnet me...

Monday, September 22, 2008

so, i did a mini magnet project this weekend. i have all of these silkscreened paper scraps that i have no idea what to do with. i found this brownish black outline of birds and such in the pile and water color penciled in the negative areas. i attached it to a big chunk of magnet, cut it into strips and put a little gloss medium on it so they shine, shine, shine! it's fairly large for a magnet, probably close to a 7" x 11" rectangle, but it gives a little drama to a drab refrigerator!

...birds of peanuts...

Ok so here is the first of many sewing projects that i hope to create in the near future. Now, I know that these aren't one of a kind ideas but I haven't sewn in about a year or so. I need some warm up on simple things. I was using fabric that I already had laying around so I could keep this a low cost project.

.my own laziness is killing me.

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

so, i am pretty well known for talking the talk of creating all these projects. im wondering how i ever survived in the ccs mindset of staying up all night doing 4-5 projects at once and still finding the time to have a social life -since i cannot even do one creative thing within my wide open week nights.

i have decided to whip myself back into shape. i am getting some fabric needs at the trusty joann fabric store down the street to first complete my pillow making project that i promised to the bf.

this weekend im also planning on beginning my project on the "expected life markers" for women in their 20s. i feel as though there is so much pressure to keep up with the tradition of meeting a man, getting an education, getting married, creating a home and then children. i know lots of people who do these steps in different orders or skip some all together, but there is a pressure that they should be completed sometime in your 20s. If you live with a person of the opposite sex its a new flash to the world that you should be getting engaged soon. things like this have become humorous to me. im just becoming me. the time has changed and people should be doing things when they are comfortable with it, not on a timeline in your 20s. This is an article that i find hilarious. check it out!

"Nineteen months ago, on a cold February day right here on the steps of the Old State Capitol, I stood before you to announce my candidacy for President of the United States of America. We started this journey with a simple belief: that the American people were better than their government in Washington - a government that has fallen prey to special interests and policies that have left working people behind. As I've traveled to towns and cities, farms and factories, front porches and fairgrounds in almost all fifty states - that belief has been strengthened. Because at this defining moment in our history - with our nation at war, and our economy in recession - we know that the American people cannot afford four more years of the same failed policies and the same old politics in Washington. We know that the time for change has come."
